Poster Australian Coral Flowers

Margaret Preston is one of Australia’s foremost modern women artists. She was a highly innovative artist who sought to create an authentic national art based on a combination of European, Australian Indigenous and Asian art. Australian coral flowers is one of her highly popular and decorative images of floral arrangements. She carefully arranged the brightly coloured, flamboyant coral flowers in the composition – contrasting their dynamic shapes with the strong vertical yellow and white stripes of the wallpaper and the horizontal black table top. The blue and white pot, gives a slightly oriental aspect to the composition, as well as providing a colour contrast.
